"A Safe Place to Be a Child" with Kyle Peek

I spent the hour with Kyle Peek, the Jefferson City area coordinator for Coyote Hill Foster Care Services. Their work is to build a foster care community, provide support services and advocacy, and partner with the Columbia site for an equine program for children.
Since 1991, Coyote Hill has grown to include six foster homes on 300 acres north of  Columbia, MO and more recently expanded to Jefferson City where they are hopeful they can eventually get some acreage. Coyote Hill Foster Care Services provide a stable home, access to therapy, independent living & vocational skills, and resource connections. Kyle Peek is all too familiar with what young people needing foster care are going through. All staff are trained in Trust-Based Relational Intervention. "TBRI® uses Empowering Principles to address physical needs, Connecting Principles for attachment needs, and Correcting Principles to disarm fear-based behaviors. While the intervention is based on years of attachment, sensory processing, and neuroscience research, the heartbeat of TBRI® is connection."
