An O.G. Perspective with Gene Robertson
Gene was the elder retired professor who counseled with Reuben Faloughi and others during the 2015 confrontations between Black students and the Mizzou administration. We talk about that and his many projects with Mizzou and the Columbia community.
Gene Robertson trained with Saul Alinsky in Chicago, got a double major masters in Community Development and Clinical Psychology and PhD in Community Development in Milwaukee. He was hired by Mizzou in 1970 and his first project was developing Branson as a retirement community. This was just one of many wonderful accounts of his collaborative work at Mizzou. He and other Blacks at that time also involved themselves in the Columbia community including KOPN (e.g. Straight Talk). Ferguson re-activated him and the MU Uprising re-engaged him.
